Team Fundraising Versus Other Fundraising Forms

Everyone engages in fundraising. Even employees are considered fundraisers as they earning income to raise funds for their own households. However, true fundraisers are done for a specific purpose and usually are being undertaken for non-profit causes.

The most popular causes are for charitable institutions, educational, sports and artistic causes. You surely have heard one of them. Fundraising gimmicks include elegant dinners, extravagant events, boisterous concerts to simpler ones like bake sales, car washes and the like. Fundraising also vary on how it is done and who does it. There is the team fundraising, individual fundraising, on-site fundraising and the now gaining popularity, online fundraising.

Choosing between yourself and a team?

The choice is really quite obvious. Working with a team eases the burden of having to deal with everything all by yourself. From thinking of the gimmick that will work, organizing the event, gathering contacts and contacting them yourself, not to mention that you have to convince them to actually donate to your cause, all add up to the tedious task of individual fundraising. But working with team fundraisers, you can still reap the benefits of fundraising but more efficiently and a whole lot easier for you and your whole team as well.
Things to consider when you decide to have team fundraising event
There are a lot of things to consider when you decide to hold a fundraising activity. As a team fundraiser, your team should consider a lot of things. Well as an individual fundraiser, you will be considering all things as well. Your target audience should coincide with your cause. Older people would not respond well to a cause involving teens unlike younger adults or the teens themselves will. Timing is of another issue. You would not want to look like a group of insensitive competing with an equally important cause. You better check the calendar, to make sure that no other fundraising event is on-going. You might also want to keep your team on their toes to think out of the box. You would not want to be swallowed up by the creativity of all the other fundraisers out there, do you?

As with any other team, communication is a major and very important key. Your team has to learn how to communicate within the rest of the team members and how to communicate outside of the team as a working and functioning team. To keep your cause relevant, it would be good to have the whole team fundraising speak about their personal conviction and experiences about the cause rather than endlessly blabbing about the beneficiaries of your team fundraiser’s cause and its upcoming projects. Nothing works like a charm like old-fashioned appeal to emotion.

Take it a step farther

Reap the benefits that the information highway can give to your team fundraisingproject. Sure, an on-site fundraising activity can be a whole lot fun and exciting, and you can immediately see and feel the results. But you have to deal with coordinating, rents and expenses. Bring your fundraising online, and you get to reach to a whole lot more people and best of all, the expenses are really minimal!
